Longtime Tampa Bay banker Henry Gonzalez is taking up a new role as a Managing Director at local investment bank Hyde Park Capital.
Gonzalez is a major senior-level hire for Hyde Park Capital, one of the oldest and most storied boutique investment banking firms in the Tampa Bay region. Hyde Park Capital co-founder and Managing Partner John Hill and Gonzalez had periodically discussed a potential role at the firm over the last handful of years before the appointment was made official this month.
Gonzalez is a veteran commercial banking dealmaker who has held the title of local market president for several banks during his nearly 30 years in this market. He more recently left traditional banking to lead business development and deal originations as a partner at SI Private Capital. As a co-founder, he helped to launch the private equity and debt fund from the family office of local real estate developer Steve Sembler in 2023.
The Tampa native was an Executive Vice President at Bank of Tampa for 14 years between the late 1990s and 2011. He served as the local market president for Platinum Bank, Mutual of Omaha Bank and Beach Bank, which was acquired by The First Bank in 2022. He currently serves as a board member for the Tampa chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth and the board of the Jesuit High School Foundation.
Hyde Park Capital, a sell-side adviser for owner-operated middle-market companies, has closed hundreds of deals since its inception 26 years ago. Beyond its Tampa headquarters, the firm has offices in Nashville, Tennessee, and San Francisco and a team that covers six industry specializations, including health care, industrial, technology and business services.
